About Annabelle
Hello, my name is Annabelle and I am second year medical student at the University of Sheffield.
I am particularly interested in supporting GCSE and A-level students with Maths, Chemistry and Biology. As a second-year medical student, I am also happy to help with UCAT and medicine interview preparation. I achieved nine Grade 9s at GCSE and four A*s at A-level in Maths, Chemistry, Biology and EPQ. I also achieved 3020 in the UCAT in 2024, which placed me in the top 10% under the previous scoring system.

My approach to tutoring is to make lessons engaging, supportive and tailored to each student's individual needs. I would start by getting an idea of what the student is already confident with, what they are finding difficult and what they would like to achieve. From there, I would adapt each lesson to focus on the areas they need the most help with.
I like to explain topics clearly and then work through examples step-by-step so that the student can see how to approach a question. I would then give them the opportunity to try similar questions independently, while being there to guide them if they get stuck. I think this is important for building confidence and helping students develop the ability to work through questions on their own, rather than relying on someone else to give them the answer. I would regularly check their understanding and change my approach if something isn't making sense.
I would typically teach 30–60 minute lessons, depending on the student's age, level and individual needs. I would aim to keep lessons varied and interactive, with a mixture of explanation, worked examples and independent practice. Where appropriate, I would also provide practice questions or small tasks to complete between lessons to help consolidate what we have covered.

I have previously tutored a student who was struggling with Chemistry, helping them improve their understanding and ultimately achieve a Grade 9 in their exam. I really enjoy helping students understand topics that they initially find difficult and seeing their confidence improve as a result. I would bring this approach to my lessons, making them friendly and approachable while still ensuring that students make good progress towards their goals.
