About Farzam
Hi! I’m Farzam and I'm a medical student at the University of Bristol, with a top 7% UCAT score and a strong understanding of what it takes to succeed in the competitive medical school application process.
I have experience tutoring GCSE students in biology, chemistry and maths as well as real-life teaching assistant experience in a school. Taking the UCAT twice has also helped me understand it on a deeper level and know where to save time in order to squeeze out the most marks possible. I hope to use this knowledge to help students at any level smash the exam. In addition, I can help students with their panel or MMI interviews for medical school.

About the lesson

In our first lesson, I'll get to know you - your goals, your strengths, and where you need support. Subsequently, we'll build a personalised plan to help you succeed in the UCAT.
Here's how I usually structure the first few sessions (each session is 1 hour long):
Session 1 - Verbal Reasoning: I'll teach students how to skim strategically instead of reading every word, spot common examiner tricks, and correctly read mitigating and contradictory language.
Session 2 - Decision Making: I'll teach students how to spot assumptions, evaluate strong vs weak arguments, and confidently handle syllogisms, Venn diagrams, and probability, so the logic clicks instead of feeling like guesswork.
Session 3 - Quantitative Reasoning: We'll work together to build strong mental maths skills, use the on-screen calculator efficiently, and avoid common pitfalls, so they can move through questions quickly and know when to flag and move on rather than getting stuck.
Session 4 – Situational Judgement: This is different from every other section — it tests ethical judgement, using real-life scenarios rated for appropriateness and importance. I'll teach students that this is about matching GMC guidance and expert consensus, so they learn to recognise the "correct" professional response pattern rather than guessing instinctively. The things we learn while going through this section can also be useful for the interview stage.
From Session 5 onwards, we’ll focus on timed practice and detailed feedback, zoning in on your weakest areas. Basically, you tell me what you're struggling with and we will aim to fix it.
