About Afia
Hi, I’m Afia and I’m a 3rd year medical student. I’m here to help you with your exams and enable you to understand topics better. Over the years of primary school, secondary school, GCSE, A-levels, and applying to medical schools, I have acquired great experiences and sets of skills which enable me to offer you that 1:1 personal teaching, in a fun and relaxed environment. I have experiences of tutoring students in the past and have held several roles which involve guiding, helping and socialising with others. I’m a member of the cardiology society at my university.
I also offer tuition for medical students specifically, including written exam practice and preparation for OSCEs.
I want you to get the most out of these lessons, which is why I tailor my teaching style and adapt to each unique student. I understand my students' strengths and weaknesses and keep lessons engaging and enjoyable. Keeping the grade they are aiming for in mind, I try to keep the lessons student-led, where possible. This allows the student to learn actively and gather a better understanding of the topic they struggle with. It is important for me that students feel safe and relaxed to ask any questions they have.
I go through exam style questions regularly, whilst also covering content. I give my students tips for learning and testing their knowledge so they can apply these out of tuition lessons too. Spaced repetition is a very effective concept for long-term memory, and I implement this within my teaching.
