About Amina
My name is Amina Adebiyi. I am a Microbiology graduate from the University of Pittsburgh and a current medical student in Maryland. My academic journey has taken me from undergraduate research laboratories to clinical settings, giving me a uniquely well-rounded foundation to support students across a wide range of science and math subjects.
My passion for working with young people started early. At 16, my first job was at a children's fitness and daycare program, where I discovered how much I enjoyed engaging, encouraging, and supporting kids in a structured environment.
I also know firsthand what it feels like to struggle. When I transitioned into a predominantly white university environment, I found myself losing confidence in science; subjects I had always loved suddenly felt out of reach. I doubted myself, stayed quiet in classes, and held back from asking for help. It took time, self-reflection, and the right support systems to find my footing again. That experience fundamentally changed how I see students who are struggling. It is rarely about ability; more often it is about confidence, environment, and finding an approach that actually works for you. I carry that understanding into every tutoring session.
During my undergraduate years, I conducted independent research on viral immune response at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, resulting in a peer-reviewed publication in the International Journal of Medical Students and recognition at national scientific conferences. I also served as a Physics I Teaching Assistant for two years, where I developed real experience breaking down complex concepts for students at varying levels of confidence and preparation.
Beyond the classroom, I have worked as a Medical Scribe at two of the country's leading children's hospitals, a Patient Care Technician, and a certified CPR and Basic Life Support instructor — roles that have sharpened my ability to communicate clearly, adapt quickly, and remain composed under pressure. I am also an advanced Spanish speaker, which allows me to support students and families who are more comfortable communicating in Spanish.
I am deeply committed to making science and math accessible, not intimidating. Every student I work with receives my full attention, a structured and personalized approach, and the same dedication I bring to my medical training. I look forward to helping you or your student build the confidence and skills to succeed.

As a Microbiology graduate and current D.O. medical student, I bring both deep subject knowledge and real clinical context to every session. Science and math aren't just subjects I studied — they're tools I use every day, from analyzing patient cases to conducting published research on viral immune response. That lived experience allows me to show students not just how to solve a problem, but why it matters.
My approach is student-first. Before diving into content, I take time to understand how each student learns, where their confidence breaks down, and what motivates them. From there, I build sessions around their needs — not a one-size-fits-all script. A typical lesson begins with a quick check-in on recent material, moves into targeted concept review using real examples and visual breakdowns, and closes with practice problems we work through together so I can catch gaps in understanding in real time.
What sets me apart is the combination of academic rigor and genuine patience. I've taught university-level Physics as a TA, instructed CPR to diverse community groups, and shadowed clinical teams working with patients from all backgrounds — including non-English-speaking patients, for whom my advanced Spanish became an essential bridge. That cross-cultural awareness shapes how I communicate, adapt, and connect with students who may feel frustrated or left behind.
My lessons are designed for students from middle school through AP-level in Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Spanish. Whether a student is building foundational skills, preparing for an AP exam, or tackling the SAT, I meet them exactly where they are and work with them toward measurable, lasting progress.
