Hello,

I am a current medical student who once also found it difficult and demanding to be proficient within my studies. Learning to overcome my own difficulties has inspired me to use my own experience to offer support to students who are currently going through what I once went through myself. Biology and chemistry used to be my most difficult subjects but through perseverance I have transformed them into my most favoured and enjoyable subjects, propelling me to study medicine.

I know the importance of resilience and perseverance within education due to the fact that I did not actually succeed straight away in my first attempt to apply to medical school due to my interviews. Reflecting on my weaknesses across my interviews, I managed to pinpoint and identify where I went wrong. Having corrected this aspect of my application, I went on to secure all 4 of my medicine offers the next time round. I am writing this to ensure that you know that if you put your mind to something you truly want, you can accomplish your goals. I am here to help you with this, using my own insight and experience applying to medical school, I will be able to support you in every aspect of your application.

I have always enjoyed being able to help people in any aspect that I can. This has ranged from me getting involved volunteering at my rugby club to help develop the younger players, as well as volunteering at a Geriatric ward in a hospital to give support to the elderly and the NHS staff. Through tutoring students before at GCSE level and seeing them score highly through my means, it gave me a very satisfied feeling, making me want to be able to help others with their areas of need. I have enjoyed taking upon roles where I get to see development within another person and would love to do it more often.

I take education very seriously and always believe in the ability to accomplish what you set your mind to. I like to take a holistic approach when it comes to helping a student, and I will endeavour to give you the attention and support you need.

About the lesson

Hello, I am here to offer in-depth lessons to provide support across the sciences at GCSE and A level as well as providing detailed lessons for medical applicants to help them with the UCAT and their interviews.

My lessons:

I offer in depth lessons at GCSE level and at A Level to help support students who struggle and find certain concepts difficult within Biology and Chemistry. I once found the sciences very difficult, however I have learnt to overcome these difficulties with my methods and techniques and am now very proficient within them, having succeeded in getting into Medical School. These methods include simplifying concepts not properly explained by teachers as well as running through practise questions together with you to give you support in areas you are less confident in. I also plan to use a feedback system to figure out what areas the student is finding difficult, and what areas they are happy with. Through these means, I hope to significantly improve your understanding of Biology.

These lessons are for anyone aged 11-18 who are less confident in the sciences to help prepare them for their GCSEs or A levels. I will adjust each lesson to the individual according to their age and their level of understanding.

I further provide lessons to help prepare medical applicants in both the UCAT and the interviews. Scoring in the top 6% of the UCAT and band 2 in the SJT, I have insight into the correct technique in combatting the UCAT, offering advice and tips to boost your score. I will also run through example questions with you and help mimic the timed and pressurised environment of the UCAT to help you excel. I also will use feedback to better structure future sessions to help you improve on the areas where you are struggling with.

Having succeeded at obtaining 4/4 medicine offers at Bristol, Newcastle, Plymouth and St Georges University, I have a wide and in depth understanding of what different universities want to see from their applicants. My teaching would involve providing my own research and guidance of 'hot topics' in medicine and giving it to students in a compact and easily memorised formula. Furthermore, I will teach you how to formulate your answers and show you how to highlight your experience and skills so that you will be scored highly across your interviews. I will cover how to combat the role-play sections of the interview as well as proper interview etiquette to give you the best possible chance.

These medicine applicant lessons are for anyone interested in applying for medicine at university.

- Eight grade 8s - including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Statistics
A levels - Grade A in Biology, Chemistry, Geography.

UCAT - 2960, band 2 - Top 6%

My experience:

I have experience tutoring multiple students at GCSE level for both Biology and Geography whilst undertaking my A levels. I was able to go over and simplify difficult concepts by taking a different approach to explaining them as well as going over example questions. Relying on feedback from the student, I was able to pinpoint their strengths and weaknesses and cater to them as individuals.
