About Karen
Possessing a bachelor and master's degree in education and having over 5 years' experience of educating students in an international school and language school. And had professional training on how to handle classes for children to adults in learning Mandarin and English as a second language. My teaching method focuses on student-centred learning and provides my students with as much scaffolding, for example, language learning integrates with culture, videos, images, games so that make sure my students get funny from the learning process. When students complete the beginner and intermediate level, they are able to:
1. master basic knowledge about Chinese culture, common vocabulary, oral speaking and reading skill required in daily life
2. master around 600 Chinese characters in common use
3. express themselves by using short or simple long sentences
4. read 80% content of local newspaper and books
