About Zu
I am a civil engineering student who’s lived in Australia for 11 years. I was born and raised in Beijing, and have always been interested in linguistics and culture since I was a kid!
I am interested in many things such as music, cinema, classic literature, swimming, boxing, film photography, science, history, funny conspiracy theories…you name something and we’ll talk about it!! Well…in Mandarin! I am also learning German as a third language myself, so being a student at the same time makes me a better teacher :D

My best personal approach to language learning is environment, themes and conservation based. I’m happy to choose a topic that you’re interested in, and dive deeper into the topic, but in Mandarin! Whether it is speaking, reading or writing that you mainly want to focus on, I’m happy to help with anything and sharing my language learning experiences.

Zuyi helped teach me Mandarin phrases to help communicate with some of my students. She catered the lessons to what I needed. It has helped greatly with my day-to-day in the classroom.
Zu was an excellent tutor! She has been great at breaking down difficult grammar into more easily understandable patterns, then providing organic examples of how they can be used. I felt comfortable chatting with her to practice my conversational Chinese and I never felt embarrassed when I made a mistake.
