We will start building a super intuitive app from day 1 which you can publish to the Play Store by the end of the course.
The student gets to decide which app he wants to build at the start of the course: Cryptocurrency Tracker, Movie Directory (IMDB), Weather Forecast or a cute Cat Images app
We will start from scratch and will slowly build up your core foundation towards Android Application Development.
This course is for both college students and corporate employees. All you need is a bit of a experience in ANY one of the Object Oriented Programming languages like C++, Java, C# etc. More importantly you need willingness to learn no matter what.
Here's how a typical class would look like:
We will start with max 20-25 mins of theory, 30 mins of programming and 5 mins of live quiz and will end up with a small homework for the next class.
The structure of the course is very flexible and tailored differently for each student.
The Course Structure for absolute beginners:
Class 0: Introduction to the Android platform, setting up Android Studio, connecting to an Android device, setting up emulator (if needed) and a simple Hello World app.
Class 1-3: Kotlin basics: classes, objects, and conditionals to create your first program in kotlin. A small homework to get used to the language.
Class 4-6: The User Interface - Layouts, Buttons, Cards, Lists.
Build the first screen of the preferred app.
Class 7-9: Activity, Fragment and Navigation:
Create second screen of the app and navigate to it. Pass data from one screen to another.
Class 10-12: Data Persistence - ViewModel, LiveData and Room:
Storing user inputs in local Database, reading and updating entries in Database
Class 13-15: Internet - Retrofit, JSON, Coroutines:
Make network call, consume REST API, parse data and show it in a list/grid
Class 14-16: Publishing the app to Play Store:
- Testing your app
- Creating an APK or AAB
- Account creation on Play Console
