About Benjamin
Hi, I'm Ben. I hold a Master of Genome Analytics and undergraduate degrees in Biomedical Science and Science (Chemistry) from Monash University. Throughout my studies I performed strongly academically, but it was when I discovered molecular biology, genetics, and genomics that I truly found my passion for science. Developing a deep understanding of these subjects transformed the way I approached learning and allowed me to excel academically.
This experience shapes the way I tutor. I believe the most successful students are not simply those who memorize information, but those who develop the skills to actively question, discuss, and pursue knowledge independently. Through curiosity, critical thinking, and open discussion, students can develop a genuine understanding of concepts rather than relying on rote learning.
I am passionate about helping students build this mindset and discover the excitement of science for themselves. My goal is not only to improve grades and exam performance, but also to help students develop confidence, scientific thinking skills, and a lasting appreciation for learning. By fostering genuine understanding and curiosity, I hope to help students find the same enjoyment and success in science that has shaped my own academic journey.

My approach to tutoring focuses on building genuine understanding, confidence, and curiosity rather than memorization alone. I believe that developing a love for science is just as important as achieving strong grades. Some of the most difficult concepts in biology and genetics are also the most exciting, and I encourage students to explore these ideas through questioning, discussion, and critical thinking. By understanding the “why” behind concepts, students build a stronger foundation that allows them to excel academically and retain knowledge long-term.
I hold a Master of Genome Analytics, as well as degrees in Biomedical Science and Science (Chemistry) from Monash University. My background includes molecular pathology, clinical genomics, bioinformatics, and genetics, providing both theoretical knowledge and real-world scientific experience.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes in length, although longer sessions can be arranged for exam preparation or assignment support. I offer tutoring for VCE Biology, undergraduate Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Science, and related life science subjects.
I genuinely love these subjects and enjoy sharing that enthusiasm with students. My goal is not only to help students improve their results, but also to help them develop confidence, curiosity, and a deeper appreciation for the fascinating world of science.
