About Luke
I am a Science student at Monash University, Clayton Campus. I am currently studying the subjects; Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. I achieved an Atar of 85.50 at Caulfield Grammar School Wheelers Hill Campus doing the subjects; Mathematical Methods, Physcis, Chemistry, biology, English and Physical Education. I have tutored friends and family since I started VCE in year 11, particularly the younger year levels, but now my siblings, and my friends siblings are in VCE themselves, and I have tutored many of them in year 12, improving their academic results quite a bit. One example I am most proud of is one of my friends little brothers. He was in year 11, barely passing any of his sciences or math subjects. Over the course of the term 1 holidays and the first half of term 2, we sat down and I tutored him every second to third day for 2-3 hours, and come the end second term his mathematical method mark went from a D+ to an A.

The kind of students my lessons would be geared towards are high school students, varying from year 7 to year 12. I don’t have a direct approach to any particular lesson, merely have my students tell me what they don’t understand, and weed out the misconceptions and errors in their learning, or reinforce any content they may not be confident with. I don’t mind when one or two students are asking questions on vastly different topics, but in a group situation with three to four or more people, asking questions related to a common topic makes my life, and the students much easier, as it’s very hard to go back and forth explaining vastly different topics. For example; teaching first derivatives to one student, then geometry to another, then go in depth in probability distribution functions to some one else. Keeping questions to a common topic in large groups is preferred, but not a necessity, and in smaller groups I’m open to anything that the student(s) may need.
