About Tom
I began playing at 12 years old, on a 1 cent guitar from eBay. Slowly I worked my way up to an electric - which is where I learned the bulk of my playing, before switching back to acoustic and nearly starting over my quest for guitar knowledge -- going back to the basics of chords, rhythm, and tasteful playing. Eventually learning how to sing and play at the same time. Of all the joys in life, singing and harmonizing with others is hard to beat, so you can expect a lot of that in my lessons!

My approach as a tutor will be specific to you and your desires. If you wanna learn scales, I'll teach it! If you wanna just learn basic chords, that's how we'll do. If only learning specific songs is your bag, I'll learn them for you and teach them to you. My experience as a guitarist has been nearly all self-taught, which has made my ear more attuned than my academic sense of the guitar. I have an understanding of music theory and scale charts, but my ultimate goal is to let you play what you want to, as I believe the fastest way to fall in love with the guitar is to like doing it! Tom is an incredibly talented guitarist! He is knowledgeable in a wide range of styles and is familiar with both the emotional and technical sides of music. In addition, he is an easygoing and supportive instructor that enjoys helping people learn and understand new concepts. I've always had positive experiences working with him in my journey to learn the guitar.
Tom is the most patient teacher! I thought it was impossible for me to play guitar but only 30 minutes in, he had me playing my first song! Trustworthy and fun person all around. Definitely recommend!
