About Bonnie
I am a trained professional with strong experience in traditional and modern approaches to teaching piano, technique, and music theory. I have taught over 200 students in the last 17 years and have a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Houston where I studied piano, bassoon, music theory and composition. I additionally served as Executive Director of SumArts, Inc., which produced the Houston Jazz Festival and Juneteenth Blues Festival in Houston, TX. I am committed to fostering an environment that encourages students to think critically and expressively and I train students in the areas of aural skills, sight-reading, and music history.

If your child is at least seven years old, I encourage you to consider online piano lessons. I take a different approach to teaching each child, and will take your child’s personality, learning styles, and goals (as well as your goals) into consideration when developing lesson plans and curriculum.
Whether he or she will pursue classical music in the future, become a jazz musician, attend university for music, or anything else, I’ll include technique, reading, interpretation, theory, improvisation, and more in lessons.
Each adult enters piano lessons with a different goal. Some have always admired the music of Chopin, for instance, while others want to play Miles Davis. Others may have played the piano for years, but are deficient in reading or technique - whatever your need may be, I will work with you and listen to your questions and concerns.
I help adult beginners, experienced amateurs, and more become independent, competent pianists.
