About Jack

Hi, I’m Jack! I’m a passionate piano teacher with years of experience playing and performing in a wide range of styles, from jazz and musical theatre to pop. I’ve been playing piano for over 10 years and have had the privilege of helping students of all ages and abilities unlock their musical potential.

My teaching approach is relaxed but focused, blending creativity with technique. I believe that learning an instrument should be an exciting and rewarding experience, so I tailor each lesson to suit the goals and interests of my students. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, I’ll support you every step of the way.

I love exploring different genres, so if you’re interested in learning anything from classical to modern hits, I’m happy to help! Aside from piano, I have a deep knowledge of jazz improvisation, composition, and ear training, which I incorporate into lessons to keep things fresh and engaging.

When I’m not teaching, I enjoy marathon running, playing tennis and attending gigs, and I’m always looking for ways to expand my own musical knowledge.

With extensive knowledge in jazz, musical theatre, and pop, I will guide you through key areas of musical development:

Ear Training: Sharpen your ability to recognize and play melodies, harmonies, and rhythms by ear.

Grades & Exams (if desired): Prepare for ABRSM or other exams with a structured approach to progress through the grades.

Improvisation: Learn how to creatively express yourself and think on your feet at the piano.

Composition: Discover how to craft your own music, from simple melodies to complete pieces.

Performance Practice: Build confidence and develop the skills needed to perform with poise, whether on stage or in front of friends.

I aim to make lessons both fun and challenging, ensuring you grow as a musician while enjoying the journey. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced player, there's always more to explore at the piano. Let's unlock your full potential together!
