About Monte

Hi,

My name is Montreal Thomas, although I go by Monte, and I have been tutoring math-related subjects for almost 7 years now and have come to learn that out of all the subjects that are out there, math tends to be a daunting or challenging experience for students. I want my students to understand that it is ok if a topic happens to confuse them or it is not as intuitive as it seems. Personally, throughout my academic career, I have had to bulldoze my way through these things and I don't think anyone should have to if it can be helped.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is centered on patience, clarity, and confidence-building. I begin each session by checking in on the student's current understanding and goals. From there, we break down challenging concepts into approachable steps using real-world examples and guided practice. I tailor every lesson to the individual student’s pace and learning style—whether they need step-by-step walkthroughs, conceptual reinforcement, or problem-solving drills.

A typical session includes a quick review, targeted instruction, and practice problems with feedback. I encourage questions and promote open dialogue so students feel safe making mistakes and learning from them. For longer-term support, I track progress and adjust strategies accordingly to help students meet both academic goals and personal milestones.

What makes my tutoring different is the combination of deep subject expertise and genuine care—I’ve worked with hundreds of students from elementary through college, and I treat each learner as a unique individual with the potential to succeed when given the right tools and support.
