As I think learning languages should be "from shallow to deep", it is sensible to teach Cantonese beginners the basics. For instance, vocabulary for day-to-day activities, a brief self-introduction, simple conversations, etc. For Cantonese intermediate and advanced learners, since they have basic knowledge of the language, I would guide them through harder texts and conversations. But there are three things that I believe will make learning a new language fun and more personal. Firstly, I will source texts and video clips from Hong Kong newspapers, websites, and TV shows to make my teaching as fun as possible. Secondly, interaction is the key to mastering a language. Therefore, I will incorporate as many interactive activities as possible. Moreover, learners will be asked if there is any specific area in Cantonese they want to master so that lessons can be customised to suit their learning goals!
