About Valerie

Born in a Paris suburb, I grew up in Nantes, on the west coast of France. After earning a degree in business and marketing, my professional career started in business management in Paris, then in Pittsburgh, PA. In my late 30s, I attended Duquesne University and obtained a Bachelor of Education in French. I then continued my studies in the field and obtained a Master degree in Educational Technology, as I predicted that teaching delivery would change with the insertion of laptops in classrooms and virtual learning.

My family lives in France, and I make a point to visit them regularly and keep myself updated on the French culture.

I am retiring from public school teaching in June 2024 after a fulfilling career, but I am eager to continue sharing my linguistic expertise. I am an enthusiastic lifelong learner with diverse interests including international travel, music appreciation, history and literature.

I am a highly skilled and dedicated French teacher with over two decades of experience in the public school system. My native fluency in the French language, combined with a passion for education and leveraging technology to enhance learning outcomes, will help you achieve your goals in mastering the French language.

With extensive experience teaching French at all levels, I am well-equipped to cater to anyone's needs in learning the language. My background includes teaching French in public education settings, from middle school (7th grade) through high school (12th grade). Additionally, I have taught French courses at the college level and provided one-on-one tutoring. This diverse range of teaching experiences allows me to confidently assist learners of all ages and proficiency levels in their journey to mastering the French language.

Leveraging Educational Technology

I hold a Master's degree in Educational Technology, enabling the integration of cutting-edge digital tools and innovative teaching methodologies. I keep myself updated on new technology trends, so I can relate to the students of today and stray away from old-fashioned teaching methods by providing relevant and entertaining teaching materials.
