About Laurine

I am a French native speaker and I have been giving private lessons in France and in England for a few years now.
I know it is a complex language, so I will help you to know how to pronounce words and understand them. I will teach you all the vocabulary you need to know and the grammar.

Every pupil of mine, regardless of age and level, has been very happy with the progress they have made when working and learning with me.

Hi everyone.

My name is Laurine. I am a French native speaker who has lived and studied in France. With my vast array of tutoring experience both in France and here in the UK, I know how to use my linguistic skills to help people to learn and understand the French language with confidence and ease.

I am patient and friendly; with a very adaptable approach to teaching.

My teaching techniques are based on identifying the weaknesses and strengths of each student as an individual so I can help each person reach their desired level and goals.

I like to make lessons comfortable and fun, using many different resources and references (including books, films, songs) that can make each lesson more relatable to everyday life, as well as easier and more enjoyable for students.

Perfect! I've been working with Laurine for almost a year now, and my French has come along very well. She has been great at giving me things to work on in between lessons which encourages me to practice in my own time.

I speak French because I am a native. I love my country and think French is such a beautiful and rich language.
Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?
It would have to be Edith Piaf, a French singer, lyricist and actress. She's an icon. Everyone has heard "Non, je ne regrette rien" or "La Vie en rose".
Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?
It might sound a bit cliché but "Voilà" is the perfect French word. It can be used in so many contexts and is just such a lovely word to pronounce.
Why does speaking this language matter to you?
It's the first language I learnt.
French comes from Latin origins and is spoken in 29 countries so I think learning this language is worth it !
What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?
French grammar is not an easy one but with a bit of practice and a good tutor, you will naturally progress quickly and confidently.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.
When I was 16 years old, I had a great professor in French literature and she made me love the language even more. I can recommend some great French authors !
How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?
Travelling is a great opportunity to learn new skills and when you're able to travel and communicate with other people, like I have done several times in recent years, you learn new words and gain unique experiences interacting with locals.
What makes you a Superprof in language?
I think the way in which I adapt myself to each individual and their personalities, with patience and tailored learning objectives make me a Superprof.
