About Zoya
I’m Zoya, originally from the Kāpiti Coast and currently studying Biomedical Sciences at the University of Otago. I’m a confident, outgoing and approachable person who enjoys meeting new people and helping others feel comfortable when learning. As a native French speaker, with a French mother, I have always stayed closely connected to my French language and culture. I’m passionate about helping students build both their French skills and their confidence, whether they are just starting out or looking to improve their fluency. I aim to create a relaxed, supportive and professional learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.

I’m a 19-year-old second-year University of Otago student and a native French speaker. I also attended school in France for six months, giving me experience with both French and New Zealand education systems. My tutoring approach is relaxed, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s level and goals. I focus on making lessons interactive and practical, with a combination of conversation practice, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing. I encourage students to ask questions and make mistakes, as I believe this is an important part of becoming confident in a language. Lessons are typically 30–50 minutes long, depending on the student’s preference and age. I’m happy to tutor beginners through to more semi-advanced students, including school students who need help with homework, assessments, or exam preparation.
