About Zofia

I hold a degree in languages and completed a Master's in Curriculum Design at Fitchburg State University. That combination of academic training and real classroom experience means I come to every lesson with both the knowledge and the tools to help you make genuine progress — not just go through the motions.

About the lesson

My name is Zofia, and I have been teaching French and Spanish for several years — in high school classrooms, one-on-one tutoring, and online. My approach is simple: I start with you. Your level, your goals, your specific challenges. No rigid program, no one-size-fits-all method. Every student is different, and every lesson reflects that.

My Teaching Method
I use a communicative and cultural approach, which means we learn the language in real contexts — conversations, authentic materials, practical situations — rather than reciting grammar rules in isolation. Grammar absolutely has its place, but we tackle it in context, where it actually makes sense and sticks.
I am also trained in curriculum design which means my lessons are not just engaging — they are intentionally structured, progressive, and built around how people actually learn.

A Typical Lesson With Me
Every session starts with a short spoken exchange — to warm up, get comfortable, and identify what we are going to focus on that day. From there, we dive in: targeted exercises, authentic documents, role plays, exam prep — whatever serves your goals in that moment. We always close with a clear recap: what we covered, what to remember, and what we will build on next time. You leave every lesson knowing exactly where you stand and where you are headed.

What Sets Me Apart
I was born in Canada, raised with Polish at home, and have lived and worked across multiple languages and cultures. French is my native language — I live it, I don't just teach it. This personal experience gives me genuine empathy for learners: I know what it feels like to search for your words, to feel stuck, and to finally find your voice in a new language.
