About Maya
I was born and raised in Germany and lived there until I was 21, so German isn't just something I studied, it's the language I grew up speaking, thinking, and joking in. I'm fluent in English too, which makes it easy for me to explain things clearly from either side of the language.
I hold a TEFL certification, so I understand how to structure lessons in a way that actually helps you progress, not just memorize vocabulary. As a native German speaker who grew up in Germany, I bring real, everyday language and culture into every lesson. My TEFL certification helps me build lessons around how you learn best, whether that's conversation, grammar, or a bit of both.
Lessons usually start with a quick chat about what you want to focus on, then move into practice with vocabulary or grammar, and wrap up with conversation so you can actually use what you've learned.
I keep things relaxed and encouraging, mistakes are just part of learning. Lessons are available in Victoria, BC or online, and I welcome beginners, intermediate learners, or anyone brushing up for travel, work, or exams.
