About Leonie

I’m a passionate biologist, environmental advocate, and dedicated educator driven by a simple but powerful goal: to create a better world with a hopeful, sustainable future. With a Bachelor of Science in Biology and hands-on experience in marine conservation and ecological research, I’ve seen firsthand both the beauty of our planet and the challenges it faces — and I want to be part of the solution. From collecting data in seagrass meadows under tough field conditions in Australia, to protecting endangered Caretta caretta turtles on the beaches of Cape Verde, my work has always been grounded in purpose. Whether it’s relocating nests to protect hatchlings, educating tourists on ethical wildlife watching, or analyzing ecological shifts in marine ecosystems, I approach every task with care, curiosity, and commitment. But science alone isn’t enough. That’s why I teach — because real change begins with understanding. As a Biology tutor at the University of Cologne and a native German speaker offering language lessons, I’ve helped students of all levels not only learn, but truly connect with what they’re studying. I believe in making complex topics simple, lessons engaging, and education a path toward empowerment. To me, languages are more than just words — they are bridges between cultures. Language learning encourages cultural exchange, deepens empathy, and strengthens global understanding. It connects people from different backgrounds and celebrates diversity, which is essential in today’s interconnected world. Hi! I'm a native German speaker with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and over 6 years of tutoring experience. I offer German lessons for all levels – whether you're a complete beginner, looking to brush up on your skills, or preparing for an advanced exam. I also teach Biology, combining my academic background with a passion for making complex topics easy to understand. I've had the pleasure of tutoring both school students and university students, helping them succeed in their language and science courses with confidence. My teaching style is friendly, patient, and personalized. I truly love teaching and always aim to find the best methods that suit your learning style. Whether that means practicing real-life conversation, breaking down grammar in simple terms, or using visual aids for scientific concepts, I’ll tailor each lesson to meet your needs and goals. Each session lasts 60 minutes, giving us plenty of time to dive into the material, ask questions, and practice together at a comfortable pace. Lessons are available both online and on-site, depending on your location and preference.
