About Anna Katharina

A little about me

Hi, I'm Anna, I'm 36 years old and I’m a native German speaker living in Germany. I’m a mother of two and also run my own business, an agency that connects people with reliable everyday support.

I’m a curious, open-minded and active person, and I enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds. In my free time, I love sports – especially MMA and climbing. I’m also a member of the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), where teamwork and helping others are an important part of what I do. And if you're interested in German culture, I can certainly talk about German beer – I even brew my own!

I believe that learning a language should be about more than grammar and vocabulary. It should give you the confidence to actually communicate with people and understand everyday life in another country.

As your tutor, I want you to feel comfortable speaking German, asking questions and making mistakes. I’m patient, reliable and happy to adapt our lessons to your interests and goals.

About the lesson

Learn German by actually using it

My goal is to make learning German practical, engaging and enjoyable. As a native German speaker living in Germany, I want you to learn the language in a way that helps you communicate confidently in real-life situations.

My teaching approach

German will be the main language of our lessons from the beginning. I speak clearly and at a pace that matches your level, so you can gradually get used to hearing and understanding German naturally. Of course, I will explain things in English when necessary, especially when introducing new grammar or concepts.

Rather than focusing only on grammar exercises and vocabulary lists, we will use German actively. We will talk about everyday situations, your interests and topics that are relevant to your goals. I will correct your mistakes in a supportive way and explain how you can improve.

A typical lesson

Our lessons usually begin with a conversation. I may ask you questions about your week, your experiences or a topic we discussed previously.

I also like to incorporate reading into my lessons. Depending on your level, we can choose a German book and read one chapter between lessons. At the beginning of our next lesson, you will tell me in German what happened in the chapter. This gives you regular practice in reading, vocabulary, comprehension and, most importantly, speaking.

We will then work on vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation or other areas that need attention. At the end of the lesson, I may give you a small, manageable homework task to prepare for our next session.

What makes my lessons different

I am a native German speaker living in Germany, so I can teach you not only textbook German but also the language people actually use in everyday life. I want you to become comfortable understanding and speaking German rather than simply completing grammar exercises.

I also have a Master's degree in International Business and Sustainability, which allows me to offer a particular focus for learners interested in German for business, university or professional life.

My lessons are suitable for beginners and intermediate learners who want to improve their German in a practical and personal way.

They are especially suitable for people who are planning to travel to, study in, work in or move to Germany, as well as anyone who wants to become more confident speaking German.

Whether you are starting from scratch or already know some German, I will adapt the lessons to your level, interests and goals.
