About Saba Kohli

My name is Saba Dave, and I'm a native Hindi speaker with over 6 years of experience teaching Hindi to adults, teenagers, and children (6+). I hold a BA in Anthropology from Tufts University and am currently pursuing an MPhil at the University of Cambridge. My teaching journey began in the US, where I helped first-generation Indian learners reconnect with Hindi and their cultural roots. Since then, I’ve spent six years working in rural India on education development—building community libraries, supporting school improvement, and designing learning programmes for young people. I’m an outgoing and creative educator who believes language learning should be both fun and effective. My classes blend structured learning with cultural exploration and etymology, helping learners understand not just how Hindi works, but why. Each lesson is interactive, tailored to your level, and supported by custom worksheets and real-world practice.

About the lesson

This is what my tutoring style generally covers: 1. Initial assessment: The first session focuses on understanding your current Hindi level, goals, and learning style. 2. Foundations: Alphabet, pronunciation, and basic sentence structure. 3. Vocabulary: Everyday words, conversational phrases, and themed word lists (family, food, travel, etc.). 4. Grammar: Verb forms, tenses, and sentence patterns through examples and activities. 5. Etymology & meaning: Exploring word roots and origins to build deeper understanding. 6. Speaking practice: Dialogues, role-plays, case studies. 7. Reading & writing: Short texts, stories, and guided writing practice. 8. Cultural context: Idioms, songs, and real-life examples. Discussions of Bollywood movies! Review & feedback: Regular recaps, personalised feedback, and progress tracking. Worksheets & practice material: Custom worksheets provided for each topic to reinforce learning and build confidence.
