About Angela Asri
Hi, I'm Angela! I'm passionate about teaching and about making a positive impact in my community. I've taught Bahasa Indonesia and Indonesian culture to students in Indonesia, the United Kingdom and Australia, and with more than 17 years of experience in education as a teacher, tutor and lecturer, I truly believe I can help you grow in both language and culture.
I'm dedicated, organized and hardworking, and also extremely patient, very sociable and friendly! I make learning clear, enjoyable and suited to each student, so you'll always feel comfortable and supported.
I love sharing what I know, and I keep learning too. As a PhD candidate in Education at UNE, I'm always exploring new ways to improve my teaching, so my students get the best support possible.
I believe that when we learn each other's languages and cultures, we build understanding and bring people closer together. I'd be delighted to share that journey with you. Let's start learning Bahasa Indonesia together!

Hi, I'm Angela! I'm a native Indonesian speaker, and I've been teaching for 17 years as a teacher, tutor and lecturer. I love sharing both the Indonesian language and the rich culture behind it.
My approach
Every student is different, so I start by getting to know you: your goals, your expectations and your current level of Bahasa Indonesia. From there, I make a lesson plan built around your interests. My lessons use clear, comprehensive materials with exercises and activities to build your understanding and give you real practice. Along the way, I bring in Indonesian culture, such as everyday customs, food, traditions, music and polite ways of speaking, so you learn how the language is really used. At the end of each lesson, we reflect on what you've learned, so you can see your progress. I also welcome your feedback, which helps me keep improving our lessons.
Lesson length
Lessons last 1 to 2 hours, depending on what suits you. I usually give extra materials so you can keep practicing between lessons.
My qualifications
I studied English Language at Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta, and taught Indonesian Language and Culture at the university's Language Institute. I hold a Master of Education (MEd) in TESOL from the University of Exeter, UK, and I'm now a PhD candidate in Education at the University of New England (UNE).
Who my lessons are for
My lessons suit everyone from beginners to advanced learners. Whether you need Indonesian for academic study, work, travel, everyday conversation or simply a love of Indonesian culture, you're very welcome. I'm based in Armidale and teach both online and in person.
I'd love to help you discover Bahasa Indonesia and Indonesian culture. Sampai jumpa! (See you soon!)
