About Isao
Hello! My name is Isao, and I am a native Japanese speaker from Japan currently living in Montreal, Canada.
I have lived in both Japan and Canada and have experience communicating with people from different cultural and language backgrounds. I understand that learning Japanese can sometimes feel challenging, especially when you want to understand how Japanese is actually spoken rather than simply following a textbook.
I am patient, friendly, and happy to adapt my lessons to each student’s level and goals. Whether you are a complete beginner or already have some Japanese knowledge, I will help you build confidence and become more comfortable using the language.
I especially enjoy helping students who are interested in Japanese culture, travel, everyday conversation, and communicating naturally with Japanese speakers.

I am a native Japanese speaker who offers practical and personalized Japanese lessons for beginners, intermediate learners, and anyone who wants to become more comfortable using Japanese in real-life situations.
My lessons focus on useful Japanese that you can actually use, rather than simply memorizing grammar rules. Depending on your goals, we can work on conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading, listening, or Japanese for travel and everyday situations.
A typical lesson can include a short conversation warm-up, introduction of new vocabulary or grammar, guided practice, and a conversation using what you have learned. I adjust the pace and difficulty according to your level and goals.
As someone who has lived and worked in both Japan and Canada, I can also explain differences between textbook Japanese and the way Japanese is naturally used in everyday conversation. I am happy to explain not only what is correct, but also what sounds natural and when different expressions are appropriate.
Whether you are starting from zero, preparing for a trip to Japan, studying Japanese as a hobby, or simply looking for more opportunities to practice speaking, I will tailor the lessons to your needs.
