Native Japanese Tutor | Lessons available in Spanish & English!

Hi! I’m Kamu, a Japanese tutor currently living in Auckland, New Zealand. During my university years, I studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain. After graduating, I worked for about 9 years at a Japanese company, and I am now living in New Zealand while working as a freelancer.

I have a deep passion for languages! Having gone through the journey of learning English, Spanish, and Korean myself, I started tutoring because I wanted to support people who are interested in my native language, Japanese. In this day and age, we can easily translate anything with a smartphone. However, I truly believe that what connects people deeply is our own authentic words. That’s why I want to put my whole heart into helping those who are eager to learn and communicate!

I have a very friendly personality, which allows me to connect easily with students of all ages—from children and teens to mature adults—creating a comfortable, friend-like atmosphere in my lessons.

About the lesson

In my lessons, I create a customized curriculum tailored to each student's learning goals and proficiency level to help them achieve their objectives. Since I can conduct lessons in Spanish, English, and Japanese, absolute beginners who have never studied Japanese before can feel completely comfortable and confident signing up.

These lessons focus on reading and writing Japanese characters, basic grammar, and building vocabulary based on JLPT standards. My goal is to help you truly "use" the language rather than just memorizing phrases. Using original materials (and of course, we can use any specific textbooks you prefer), we will improve your Japanese skills through practical application and real-world practice.

︎ For Travelers Planning a Trip to Japan
We will simulate various travel scenarios to help you master practical, essential phrases for your trip. You will learn how to order at restaurants, shop, and ask for directions, while also discovering important Japanese rules and customs you should know before you arrive. If you have some time before your trip, we can also explore various tourist spots and local foods together during class and help you plan your itinerary!

︎ For Anyone Who Desires to Live in Japan in the Future
If you dream of living in Japan someday, these lessons combine language learning with deep insights into Japanese culture, rules, and daily life. I will guide you through the "common sense in Japan" that is essential for living there, such as how the healthcare system works and how to find an apartment.

︎ For Anime & J-Drama Lovers
We will learn vocabulary and expressions using scenes from your favorite anime or drama. The language used in anime can sometimes be quite unique and might not always directly translate to everyday conversation, but this course will allow you to understand and enjoy what you love through its original, authentic expressions.

Of course, we can also combine multiple styles to create the perfect mix for you!
