About Jenny

Hi, I'm Jenny! I was born and raised in Korea, and Korean is my native language. I'm currently a student at Boston University, studying Hospitality Administration. Before BU, I studied Economics at Syracuse University, where I kept a 3.86 GPA and made the Dean's List in 2025 and 2026.

I'm fully comfortable in both Korean and English, and I also speak business-level Chinese. Since I learned English and Chinese as foreign languages myself, I know what it's like to be a beginner, and I know which study habits actually work.

Sharing Korean culture has always been a big part of my life. At Syracuse, I was part of the Korean-American student association, where I helped plan events like Korean movie nights, karaoke nights, and a Korean traditional games night for students who wanted to experience Korean culture. I also led a student fashion club of 30+ members as Director, so I'm used to explaining things clearly and helping people work together.

I've also worked in a lot of people-facing roles, as a barista, in retail sales, as a branch manager, and at a resort in Jeju. These jobs taught me how to be patient, listen carefully, and make people feel comfortable, which is exactly how I want my students to feel in every lesson.

I'm reliable, organized, and always prepared for class. I'd love to help you reach your Korean goals!

About the lesson

Hi, I'm Jenny! I'm from Korea and I'm studying hospitality at Boston University. Korean is my first language, and I really love helping people learn it and get to know Korean culture.

My lessons are pretty chill and practical. I want you to actually speak Korean, not just memorize stuff. We'll talk a lot, and I'll explain grammar in a simple way with lots of examples. I also like using things from real life, like K-drama scenes, song lyrics, menus, and KakaoTalk-style texts, so you learn how Korean people really talk.

A normal lesson goes like this: we start with a little small talk, quickly review what we learned last time, then learn something new (a grammar point, expressions, or a topic like ordering food or making plans). After that we practice it together with role-play, and I'll give you a few phrases to practice before next time.

I learned English as a second language myself, so I know how confusing a new language can feel That's why I try to be patient and explain things from a learner's point of view. I can also teach the cultural parts, like when to use polite vs. casual speech, so you sound natural and not like a textbook.

My lessons are for anyone! Total beginners who want to start with Hangul, people who already know some Korean and want more speaking practice, K-pop and K-drama fans, or anyone planning to travel, study, or work in Korea. I'll match the lessons to your level and goals.
