About Ian

Hi, I’m a Spanish tutor with an A* at A level and a Grade 9 at GCSE, offering support to students who want to improve their confidence, achieve their target grade and exceed expectations.

As a native Spanish speaker who has recently completed the UK exam system, I have a strong understanding of both the language itself and the specific techniques needed to succeed in GCSE and A level exams. I know first-hand how challenging languages can feel, particularly when it comes to speaking and writing, and I focus on making these areas much more manageable.

I take a calm, structured and supportive approach in my lessons, helping students build confidence while also pushing them to reach their target grades. I am reliable, well-organised, and committed to helping each student make clear progress over time.

Whether a student is aiming to pass or achieve grades 7–9 at GCSE or A/A* at A level, I aim to provide the guidance and strategies needed to get there.
However, I also welcome adult learners looking to improve their Spanish in a structured and supportive way.

About the lesson

Having recently achieved a Grade 9 at GCSE and an A* at A level Spanish, I understand exactly what examiners look for and how to maximise marks in each component.

Each lesson typically lasts one hour and is tailored to the student’s current level and target grade. We begin with a short speaking or recap activity to build confidence, followed by focused work on a key area such as grammar, writing or listening. I then incorporate exam-style questions to apply what we’ve covered, and finish with clear feedback and practical steps for improvement.

I place particular emphasis on speaking and writing, as these are often the areas where students can gain the most marks quickly with the right structure and techniques. I also help students develop strong vocabulary, accurate grammar, and effective exam strategies.

My lessons are aimed at GCSE and A level students of all abilities, whether they are aiming to pass or achieve the highest grades (7–9 at GCSE or A/A* at A level). As someone who has recently gone through the exam process, I can relate to common challenges and explain concepts in a clear, approachable way.
