About Jing
I'm a native Mandarin speaker. I sat GCSE and A-level Chinese and came away with an A* at A-level, so I know what examiners look for and what trips students up - I've made those mistakes myself.
I teach one-to-one because it's the setting where I can spot a misunderstanding the moment it appears. In a classroom that gap usually doesn't surface until the exam; here I can slow down, re-teach it another way, and check it before we move on.
I'm patient, and I'll explain something a second or third way if the first one doesn't land as everyone learns differently. I plan and personalise every lesson and I'll always be honest about where you are.

Mandarin
Every lesson is one-to-one, so I plan it around the student rather than working from a fixed script. I start by finding out what they already know, then break each new topic into small steps and check that they have understood before we move on. If they haven't, I'd rather spend ten extra minutes on it than paper over the gap.
A typical session runs for one hour: a short warm-up on last week's work, focused teaching on the new topic, then practice and a quick recap at the end.
My students are usually aged 8 to 12 and I'm happy to teach older learners too; I've done so before.
