About Raquel
Hi, I’m Raquel! I was born in Spain, grew up in Barcelona, and later moved to the UK to study Philosophy (first Nottingham, now London). I have experience helping friends, colleagues, and students improve their Spanish and Catalan through both relaxed conversation practice and structured sessions. I believe language learning should be enjoyable, practical, and rooted in curiosity—not memorising lists for exams! The best way to learn it is by speaking it with native people, reading, translating, and using it in a natural way. I love meeting new people, having interesting conversations, and sharing culture. If you’re in London, we can even turn your lesson into a coffee chat, practising Spanish or Catalan while enjoying a relaxed atmosphere. Helping others learn Spanish and/or Catalan, and sharing my culture feels exciting and meaningful to me. Whether you’re after casual conversation, cultural exchange, or structured lessons with clear goals, I’ll adapt to your style and make learning engaging and stress-free.

My lessons are relaxed, practical, and fully tailored to your needs. I focus on real communication — chatting, listening, reading, and speaking — so you can start using the language naturally from day one. Depending on your goals, I can:
1) Guide you through conversational practice (over coffee if you like!)
2) Help you build vocabulary and confidence around specific topics (shows, books, politics, philosophy, daily life, etc.)
3) Provide structured grammar explanations and exercises
4) Support you with exam preparation or translation practice

I've had a few lessons with Raquel now and can definitely say she's a great tutor, very organised and professional and really attentive during class
Raquel really helped me to improve my conversational Spanish. She’s a very patient teacher, and really goes the extra mile to explain the pronunciation. My Spanish friends have commented on how much my accent has improved! Would definitely recommend lessons with her for all levels as I was almost a complete beginner when I started and she was great, and as she is a native speaker I’m hoping to continue lessons with her until I am fluent.
