About Silvia S

I'm a qualified and experienced Spanish teacher with a genuine passion for languages, teaching and helping students discover that Spanish is much more manageable (and much more fun!) than they might think.

I have experience teaching Spanish at KS3 and GCSE level, including preparing students for exams, developing curriculum and resources, and supporting learners with different abilities and learning needs. I have also lived and worked in Spain, giving me first-hand experience of the language and culture beyond what you would normally find in a textbook.

Over the years, I've worked with students with a wide range of confidence levels — from those who are just starting out to students aiming for the very top GCSE grades. I particularly enjoy helping students who feel that Spanish is "just not their thing" realise that, with the right explanation and a little practice, they absolutely can succeed.

My teaching style is friendly, encouraging and structured, but I also believe in maintaining high expectations. I'll challenge you when you need challenging, support you when things get difficult, and celebrate the progress along the way!

Outside of grammar, vocabulary and exam technique, I'm passionate about Spanish-speaking culture and authentic communication. My aim is not just to help you get the right answer, but to help you understand why it's right — and eventually feel confident using Spanish independently.
