About Yolanda
I am a passionate language educator and lifelong traveler. Since the age of 19, I have lived and taught in five different countries across English- and French-speaking regions. These international experiences allow me to bring real-world context and authenticity into my lessons.
After the birth of my second child, I chose to settle in Florida, where I now teach at one of the top public high schools in the nation, known for its accelerated and rigorous academic programs.
With 19 years of experience teaching French and several years teaching Spanish, I bring both expertise and dedication to every lesson.
My goal is to create a supportive, engaging, and high-quality learning environment where students feel confident and motivated to succeed.

¡Hola! / Bonjour ! My name is Yoli, and I am a native Spanish speaker with 19 years of experience teaching French and 4 years teaching Spanish at the high school and IB levels. I hold Master’s degrees in both French and Spanish, as well as a BA in English, which allows me to support students with clear explanations and strong cross-language connections.
My teaching approach is student-centered, communicative, and results-oriented. I focus on helping students build confidence in speaking while also developing strong skills in listening, reading, and writing. I adapt my lessons to each student’s goals, whether it is improving grades, preparing for IB exams, or becoming more fluent in real-life situations. I use authentic materials (articles, videos, cultural topics) to make learning engaging and meaningful.
A typical lesson includes a warm-up conversation to activate prior knowledge, followed by targeted instruction on a specific skill or concept (grammar, vocabulary, or exam strategies). We then practice through interactive activities such as guided speaking, reading comprehension, or writing tasks. I always include feedback and correction, along with clear explanations, so students understand their progress and next steps.
What sets me apart is my extensive classroom experience, especially with MYP and IB students, and my ability to personalize each lesson. I combine structure and rigor with a supportive and encouraging environment. I also bring cultural insight as a native speaker, helping students not only learn the language but truly understand how to use it naturally.
My lessons are designed for middle school and high school students, including IB learners (MYP, ab initio, and Language B), as well as adults who want to improve their French or Spanish for academic or personal goals.
