About TImo

Friendly Introduction – by Timo Hi! I’m Timo, a native Spanish speaker born in Bogotá, Colombia and currently living in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. As someone who loves exploring the outdoors, traveling to new places, and being around animals, I bring a warm, open-minded, and down-to-earth energy to every lesson I teach. I know from experience that learning a new language works best when you feel comfortable, understood, and supported—so I always create a welcoming environment where you can express yourself freely, make mistakes without pressure, and enjoy the process. My teaching style is friendly, patient, and highly personalized, with lessons designed around your goals, your pace, and the real-life situations where you want to use Spanish. Students appreciate that I’m easy to talk to, clear in my explanations, and always genuinely invested in their progress. Whether you're starting from zero, wanting to build confidence, or aiming to improve your fluency for work, travel, or school, I’ll be right there guiding you step by step. I believe that learning Spanish should feel both effective and enjoyable—and I’m excited to help you grow with motivation, positivity, and a personal touch. Looking forward to meeting you and supporting your journey!

My Teaching Approach – by Timo

As a native Spanish speaker, my tutoring approach focuses on making every lesson practical, engaging, and adapted to the student’s real needs. I combine a communication-based methodology with structured grammar guidance, ensuring students not only understand the language but also learn to use it confidently in everyday situations.

Teaching Methodology and Techniques

I use a student-centered approach, meaning every lesson is built around the learner’s goals, pace, and interests. I integrate:

Conversational practice from day one

Clear, simple explanations of grammar

Vocabulary building through real-life examples

Listening and pronunciation exercises

Interactive activities such as role-plays and scenario-based learning

I also adjust my teaching style depending on whether the student learns better visually, verbally, or through hands-on practice.

Typical Lesson Plan

A standard lesson with me includes:

Warm-up conversation to activate what you already know

Short review of the previous topic

Main lesson focus (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, or reading)

Practical activities using real-life situations (ordering food, job interviews, travel needs, etc.)

Speaking practice to reinforce confidence and fluency

Personalized homework based on your goals and progress

Every session ends with quick feedback so you always know what you’re improving and what we’ll work on next.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor

What makes me different is the combination of being a native speaker with a clear, patient, and flexible teaching style. I make learning Spanish feel natural and enjoyable, not overwhelming. My lessons are friendly, motivating, and fully tailored to the student's strengths and challenges. Students often tell me that I make the language feel accessible and that they feel comfortable speaking with me from the very beginning.

Who My Lessons Are For

My lessons are suitable for:

Beginners starting Spanish from zero

Intermediate learners wanting to improve fluency

Advanced students polishing grammar or conversation skills

Professionals needing Spanish for work or customer service

Students preparing for exams or school support

Travelers wanting quick, practical communication skills

Whether your goal is academic, professional, or personal, I adapt the content to fit your objectives.
