About Sofia
I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, and moved to the U.S. 8 years ago. I am a Modern Language and Culture graduate from Kennesaw State University, thus, languages are my passion. I can speak, read and write fluently in Spanish, English, French and Italian. I have been giving Italian lessons to two family members for the past month between ages 27-60. I am also tutoring two kids ages 5-10 in French. They attend a French school and my job is to correct any grammar mistakes, speak in French throughout the day, and make sure they understand the assignments. Overall, I am very patient when it comes to teaching others a language because I want them to become as fluent and comfortable as possible with it. My goal is to help you become the most confident when speaking with a native Spanish-speaker.

I base my lessons on the day-to-day modern language. I start my lessons by doing a quick test of the basics (the alphabet, pronunciation, greetings, etc) and based on the students' responses I would start either with the alphabet and basic pronunciation, or we start with the verbs to be and to have. During my lessons I make sure that every single word is pronounced/spelled correctly, and I will do a review at the end of it to make sure the student remembers the pronunciation/spelling. Furthermore, I believe music and TV have a huge influence in learning a language, thus my lessons will include these two in order to make it interactive, engaging and interesting. I believe that saying aloud the words will storage easily in one's memory, thus, a good part of my lessons include speaking. I do this because it is the hardest part of learning a language or putting it into action. I want my students to be confident and calm when speaking to a native Spanish-speaker.
