About Maria

¡Hola! I'm Maria, your dedicated Spanish tutor. I was born in Barcelona, Spain, graduated from Psychology and lived in different countries experiencing language learning. During these years I have been teaching English to a variety of profiles, as well as high school support.

As a qualified psychologist, my academic background not only enriches my understanding of human behavior but also serves as a unique lens through which I approach teaching Spanish. I've crafted a personalized methodology that combines language acquisition with psychological insights, ensuring an effective and enjoyable learning experience.

My language-learning journey began when I started studying English at the age of 15. It wasn't until I lived in the US for a year that I truly mastered the language. Similarly, my experiences with French were initially sporadic, but it was during my time in France, surrounded by French friends, that I made significant strides.

I understand that nowadays, it's not always feasible to uproot and move to a Spanish-speaking country. However, I'm confident that learning with a native speaker can be just as impactful.
My commitment to your success goes beyond language proficiency. I bring a professional and friendly approach to our sessions, creating a dynamic and enriching learning environment.

Whether you're a beginner eager to grasp the basics or an intermediate learner striving for fluency, I'm here to guide you every step of the way.
Let's embark on this linguistic journey together, where learning Spanish becomes not just a goal but a fulfilling experience. ¡Vamos!

About the lesson

Having personally navigated various language learning processes, I bring a UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE to the table. I understand the challenges and joys of learning a new language, having experienced it with different languages myself. This firsthand experience informs my teaching style, making the learning journey relatable and enjoyable.

In OUR SESSIONS, I emphasize a personalized teaching methodology, integrating theory and practical application. We will explore diverse topics relevant to the Spanish language, ensuring a deep understanding of the subject matter. I utilize engaging techniques such as conversational practice, cultural exploration, and real-life scenarios to enhance your learning experience.

A TYPICAL LESSON plan involves an initial assessment of your current language proficiency and goals, followed by targeted instruction and interactive activities.
We will delve into practical exercises, discussions, and application of language skills to real-life situations. Throughout the session, I encourage questions and discussions to ensure a dynamic and enriching learning environment.

Maria's been my Spanish tutor for a while now, and she's been super cool about everything. We used to meet up in person, but when COVID hit, she switched gears and started doing online lessons. Honestly, I was a bit worried about how it would go, but Maria made it fun and easy.

What I love about her is how she keeps things interesting. It's not just boring grammar drills. And even though we're not in the same room, she still manages to make it feel like a real conversation. Plus, she's always there to cheer me on and give me that extra push when I need it.

At first, we followed a syllabus, but gradually we adapted it to my needs, which were to be able to comprehend at both oral and written levels.

I highly recommend Maria as a Spanish tutor. Her personalized teaching style and dedication to creating immersive learning experiences make her stand out. Maria's virtual immersion sessions are particularly memorable, showcasing her passion for teaching and the Spanish language.
We've had some great chats in Spanish about everything from daily life to deeper cultural topics, as I wanted to improve my speaking.
It's clear that she really cares about her students and goes the extra mile to make learning enjoyable.
