About Liliana

I am a third-year student at the University of Pittsburgh. I am studying Natural Sciences on the pre-PA track. After I graduate, I plan to get an Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, and work as a pediatric nurse.

About the lesson

My tutoring style is grounded in understanding, patience, and adaptability. I focus on helping the students truly understand the concepts rather than memorizing them. I break down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps and connect them to real-world examples. I encourage lots of active participation, by asking students to explain their reasoning and apply what they’ve learned.

I use diagrams, analogies, and specific examples tailored to the student’s learning style. I check their understanding regularly by asking quick questions or practice exercises, and adjust the pace accordingly. I focus not just on the student knowing the information, but also on helping them gain their independence and trust in their abilities.

For me, a typical lesson plan starts with a review, and we go over what the student learned last time. Then I introduce the concept using visuals, and examples. Next we practice the concept together, asking the student to explain their reasoning outloud. The student will then do some independent practice where I will help observe and guide if needed. Finally, we summarize key points, and discuss goals for next time.

I work with elementary, middle, and high school level students, particularly those studying basic arithmetic, biology, or chemistry.
