About Laura
MY IMDB BIO: Canadian actress Laura Afelskie grew up in a sports-centric household, juggling soccer, cross country, and hockey throughout elementary and high school. However, her true passion was always the performing arts. In 2015, she landed her first lead role as Ariel in "Footloose." Laura was then cast in "Black Widow Killer," portraying the younger version of Erin Karpluk. Her breakout year came in 2021 with roles in the Christmas movie "Secret Santa," Netflix’s "Painkiller," and CW’s "In the Dark." In 2023, she got her first lead role in Lifetime’s "Our Mother’s Secret Affair." She continued her momentum with notable performances in "Little Girl in Window" and "The Daughter I Gave Away" in 2024. Laura can be seen starring as Runa in the hit Netflix series "BET" (2025), which was recently renewed for a season 2! "BET" is a live-action adaptation of the popular manga "Kakegurui," directed by Simon Barry. Outside of acting I have taught both classes and coached privately for the past 5 years across North America. When not acting or teaching I also work as a casting assistant!

Some of the services I offer include: • Acting training – techniques, how to break down a script, etc. • How to put together a strong self-tape audition • How to Zoom audition • How to find what roles suit you in the industry • How to put together an acting resume and demo • How to get an agent (and find the right one for you!) • How to audition for commercials • How to find your own auditions that get you closer to being on set • 101 intro to the business of acting For Youth or those just looking to explore acting we can work on… • Memorization techniques • Confidence building • Imagination work • AND HAVING FUN! – for youth I offer lots of games and skills that will help in school with presentations, confidence, leadership skills, and sparking creativity!
