About Rojina
I am a Neuroscience graduate from King's College London, obtaining a First in my BSc Neuroscience, with a dream of pursuing a doctorate in Clinical Neuropsychology (DClinPsy). My journey into tutoring began during my A-level studies when I volunteered to help GCSE and AS level students with Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology. It was during this time that I discovered how much I enjoyed teaching. Seeing students grasp complex concepts and succeed in their exams was incredibly rewarding. Since then, I've been tutoring mainly Biology and Psychology to around 10 A-level students, and it's been amazing to watch them achieve A/A* grades! What drives me to teach is the opportunity to make a real difference in students' lives. I remember the joy and relief of finally understanding a difficult topic, and I want to bring that same experience to others. Helping future scientists gain a deep understanding of their subjects and seeing their confidence grow fuels my passion for teaching. My background in the arts, as well as my communication skills honed through my work experience, also plays a role in how I teach. I find that creativity and use of simple language helps me explain scientific concepts in a way that's engaging and easier to understand. Whether it's through a vivid analogy or a creative presentation, I aim to make learning enjoyable and memorable through drawings.

My approach to conducting biology lessons focuses on creating a supportive and interactive learning environment. Building rapport with students is my first priority, as I believe that a comfortable and trusting relationship encourages students to express when they don't understand a concept. This openness is crucial for effective learning. I have a deep understanding of the subjects I teach, being Neuroscience, Biology and its related fields, and Psychology- this allows me to explain concepts in a way that makes sense to students. This ensures that they grasp the underlying principles rather than resorting to passive memorisation. I use analogies and real-life examples to make the material more relatable and memorable. Repetition is a key part of my teaching strategy; I reinforce important concepts throughout our sessions to ensure they are fully understood and retained. At the end of each session, I review the material covered by going through questions with the students. This not only reinforces learning but also helps identify any areas that need further clarification. I assign additional questions as homework, which we will review in the next session. This practice of spaced repetition is essential for long-term retention of the material.
