About Thomas
I am a Neuroscience graduate currently training as a Deck Officer at Warsash Maritime School, with the aim of becoming a Marine Biologist. My academic background is rooted in the biological sciences, specifically the complex function of the human brain and nervous system.
I view Biology not as a list of facts to be memorised, but as a language to be translated. To me, biological terms are simply tools used to describe logical mechanisms. Just like any foreign language, I believe even the most complex physiological processes can be translated into simple, plain English.
In my own studies—from analysing neural pathways to my current work in nautical precision—I reject rote learning. I am strictly data-driven and believe that if a concept cannot be explained simply, it hasn't been fully understood. I bring this same "nitty-gritty" focus to my students, helping them use logic to master the syllabus rather than just reading the textbook.

Biology is often difficult not because the concepts are hard, but because the language is dense. As a Neuroscience graduate now studying Nautical Science, I treat this subject as a translation task.
My method is simple:
De-Jargon: We translate complex exam questions into plain English so you actually understand what is being asked.
Data-Driven: Biology mark schemes are rigid. We focus on the specific keywords and logic chains that examiners award marks for (the nitty gritty).
Retention: I use principles from my neuroscience background to ensure these concepts stick in your long-term memory, not just for the next hour.
I don't just teach you to admire the subject; I teach you to answer the questions efficiently.
