I design my tutoring sessions to foster proactive learning within the students that I work with. I have students report the topics they are struggling with and I have them take a mini-diagnostic quiz. Then I present a mini-lecture that introduces the topic and clarify anything that they don't quite understand. Next, I have students apply that information through practice problems that we do together and they do on their own. We spend as much time as the student needs on the topic. After they feel comfortable enough, I have them take a mini post-quiz to see how well they understand the topic. I have a fun and bubbly personality that I implore to get to know my students to make them feel comfortable and the learning experience fun. I mainly tutor elementary and middle school.
