I believe that for productive creative work, the artist needs to first feel comfortable and supported in the space. In acting, the body and voice need to be free so the internal work can be expressed.
- I usually begin with something that cultivates presence -- yoga, meditation, or interpretive dance around the space (always fun!)
- I then move into basic vocal/physical work
- Then the rest of the time is yours! Text analysis, embodiment of character, thought changes, clarifying objectives, understanding Shakespeare, how to physicalise a text -- I'm your gal!
I am a creative-of-all-sorts with a background in acting, directing & writing. I trained in acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Art, and have worked professionally with shake & stir theatre co, Dead Puppet Society, & School2Stage.
As your tutor, my role is help you achieve your goal -- whether it be general public speaking confidence, or nailing those thought changes in your monologue.
I aim to create a space that is equally supportive & challenges you!
I have previously tutored drama/devised pieces with school students, and workshopped audition monologues for drama school entries.
My specialties are Shakespearean text, and helping actors become aware of their habitual patterns, so you are free to play, discover, and create.
