About Alex

I have been tutoring and playing chess for many years. I love the game and I absolutely love sharing it with others. I pride myself on being able to clearly articulate my thoughts and criticisms in a way that is helpful and useful for the learner, regardless of their skill level. I also believe that teaching is one of the best ways to learn, and so I would absolutely love to have you as one of my students, and to share in the love of the game!

About the lesson

My lessons will mainly focus on chess puzzles and analysis of past games, as well as some educational games. I believe that the best way to learn chess is to take time with puzzles to understand perfect play, and playing real games to understand realistic play. A good chess player knows how to make the perfect moves in a realistic situation, and a mix of practicing puzzles and real games teaches one how to do this. The main thing that sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to formulate my thoughts and ideas into helpful and clear feedback and teaching. I've tutored many different subjects and therefore know what to teach and tell a student to help them grow. In addition my experience when it comes to chess is another helpful factor. My lessons are mainly geared at beginner level players, (under 1000).
