About DOUGLAS
I’m Douglas Martin, MSN, RN, CNE, a registered nurse and Certified Nurse Educator with nearly 30 years of nursing experience and more than 20 years of experience teaching nursing students at the college level.
My clinical background includes cardiac and critical care nursing, giving me extensive experience connecting classroom concepts to real-world patient care. As an educator, I have taught medical-surgical nursing, pharmacology, clinical skills, medication calculations, clinical judgment, and preparation for nursing licensure examinations.
I understand that nursing school can be challenging, especially when students are expected to move beyond memorizing information and begin applying it to complex patient situations.
My approach is supportive, patient, and individualized. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and working through difficult concepts without feeling judged.
As a Certified Nurse Educator, I focus on helping students develop clinical reasoning, recognize important patient cues, prioritize nursing interventions, and understand the rationale behind their decisions.
My goal is to provide a professional and encouraging learning environment where students can strengthen their knowledge, build confidence, and develop skills they can carry into nursing school, the NCLEX, and eventually clinical practice.

My tutoring is individualized to meet you where you are. Rather than relying on memorization, I help nursing students understand the connections between pathophysiology, assessment findings, labs, medications, complications, and nursing priorities.
Sessions may include concept review, clinical case studies, NCLEX/NGN-style questions, medication calculations, EKG and ABG interpretation, prioritization, or test-taking strategies. We work through the reasoning behind each answer so you understand not only what is correct, but why.
With nearly 30 years of nursing experience, including cardiac and critical care, and more than 20 years teaching nursing students, I bring both clinical experience and nursing education expertise to each lesson.
I tutor students in Med-Surg, Pharmacology, Critical Care, NCLEX/NGN preparation, HESI preparation, clinical judgment, medication calculations, IV drips, EKGs, ABGs, fluids and electrolytes, and prioritization/delegation.
Whether you are struggling with a course, preparing for an exam, or getting ready for the NCLEX, we will identify your specific needs and build each session around helping you become a more confident clinical thinker.
