About Simona

Over the years I’ve had the privilege of performing at some incredible venues, from Dizzy’s Club in New York and Blues Alley in Washington DC, to Black Cat in San Francisco, Blue Note Milano, and the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. I even performed at Expo Dubai 2020 with the Italian National Jazz Orchestra. Now I’m bringing that same passion for performing, and for teaching, into the NYC music scene.

In 2022 I was awarded a Fulbright scholarship and completed my second Master’s degree, this time in Jazz Performance at the City College of New York.

Whether you’re just starting out or already have years of experience, we’ll work together on vocal technique, repertoire across pop, rock, and jazz, and improvisation, all while building your confidence and your love for singing.

If music has been calling you, let’s connect and start this journey together.

FIND YOUR VOICE, JUDGMENT FREE

I'm Simona, a jazz vocalist and vocal coach in NYC. My studio is a place where you can experiment, stumble, and grow without ever feeling watched or judged. That's not just a tagline, it's how I actually teach.

WHAT A LESSON LOOKS LIKE

We start with a warm-up built around your voice that day, not a generic routine. Breath, tone, range: we wake it all up together.

From there we dig into technique. Breath support, pitch, agility, expanding your range, whatever will move you forward fastest. I don't believe in forcing a "correct" sound onto anyone. My job is to help you find the voice that's already yours and give it a stronger technical foundation.

Then we bring it to repertoire. Jazz, pop, rock, Italian songs, whatever pulls at you. This is where technique turns into interpretation and a song stops being an exercise and starts being yours.

If performing is on your radar, we'll work stage presence and audience connection too, including mock performances or audition run-throughs so the real thing feels familiar instead of terrifying.

Every lesson ends with honest, constructive feedback and a clear goal for next time. You should walk out feeling like you actually know what to work on, and excited to do it.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Complete beginners. Singers prepping for a college audition. People who used to sing and want to come back to it. Anyone who's ever been told they "can't sing" and wants to find out that's not true.

All levels. All genres. One rule: no judgment, ever.

Let's find your voice together.

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

I've always felt a connection to my voice-it's been my companion for as long as I can remember. Singing wasn't just something I loved; it felt like an extension of who I was, even as a little girl.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Jazz is my endless loop. Its variety and depth mean I never get tired of it, and if I had to choose one artist, it would be Carmen McRae. Her phrasing, emotion, and style captivate me every time.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

I'd love to teach an advanced course on scat singing. It's a thrilling way to improvise and tell your story through music. Pairing it with an intensive vocal technique program would be a challenge, but one that could transform any student's skills.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I have so much respect for brass players. Instruments like the trumpet and trombone require incredible breath control, precision, and stamina. They're as much about technique as they are about passion and perseverance.
  • What are your keys to success?

Authenticity is everything. Be yourself unapologetically. Your artistry shines through naturally when you stay true to who you are.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favorite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Imagine sitting with Dexter Gordon at a bar, listening to his larger-than-life stories and soulful wisdom. Then, Ornella Vanoni joins the table-her wit and charisma would have us laughing over cocktails. Finally, Ella Fitzgerald walks in, and I sit in awe, soaking in her timeless tales and effortless grace.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

The first time I sang with a big band is a moment I'll never forget. It was a concert at the Milan Conservatory called Cartoons in Jazz. From the moment the instruments started playing during rehearsal, the sheer power of the sound swept me away. In that instant, I knew-this was my path, my calling.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

Empathy is my secret ingredient. I take the time to step into my students' shoes, understand their struggles, and guide them in a supportive and inspiring way. I aim to be the kind of teacher I always wished I had-someone who listens, encourages, and celebrates every small victory.
