About Matthew

I have covered many areas of cyber security and currently lead an offensive security department. I am skilled in a multitude of programming languages and software engineering practices, including ethical hacking and red teaming. I've worked with over 100 businesses over a 6 year period, helping them to secure their IT estate with comprehensive penetration testing and red team engagements. I have a BSc in cyber security, with multiple vendor qualifications including the renowned Certified Red Team Operator (CRTO).

A versatile Red Team Operator with a plethora of experience, technical aptitude and specialism, including Red and Purple Team engagements.

This also includes but is not limited to penetration testing of a multitude of systems such as web application, thick clients, internal and external infrastructure, databases reviews, build reviews and mobile applications. In addition to an understanding of/and experience using the MITRE Att&ck framework and kill chain to compromise and remain covert within internal networks using a variety of open source and proprietary C2 frameworks and associated payloads such as Cobalt Strike/Empire/Poshc2 and custom-coded.

In addition to securely creating disposable cloud-based infrastructure through Azure and AWS.

I take a language-agnostic approach to software engineering and creating tools and payloads, and therefore see programming languages as merely tools to aid further research and capability enhancement; whether it be coding a web application for a phishing engagement or automating a covert file dropper using programmatic steganography.

Thoroughly enjoys the creativity required to complete successful Red Team engagements/adversarial simulation and evade detection with adequate op-sec considerations. Adversarial simulation with regards to APTs is one of my main interests.

I thoroughly enjoy teaching this vast and demanding subject, with tried and tested approaches that will enable any learner to gain the foundational skills both technical, professional and soft skills including report writing.

About the lesson

My approach is highly tailored at the pace you learn, I am able to describe each technical area in different ways,both at a high level and broken down step-by-step. Our first meeting will be introductory where we get to know each other. I'll talk more about my skills and experience and then give you an opportunity to talk about your current skills, your aims and objectives.
