About Haley
This is my second year as a teacher, and I love it! I put the relationships with my students first. I love getting to know more about them, and I enjoy laughing together when I embarrass myself (as I do often). What sets me apart from other tutors, and teachers is that I struggled a great deal in math when I was in college. This was a difficult time for me, academically and personally. For those of you who struggle in math, I know your pain and frustration you feel on a daily basis. But, I want you to know you don't have to feel those things with me! We will work together to get you feeling confident in your skills! If I can struggle through math courses, and still become a math teacher then you can do it too!!! Failure, struggle and mistakes is where we grow and learn the most. I can't wait to get to know more about you!

I will provide multiple techniques depending on the student/students I am working with. I believe that students benefit from teachers asking them guiding questions, such as "How do you know?" "How did you find that?" or "How did you arrive at this solution? Is there another way you could find the answer?" In math, the questioning is critical because it forces students to think about the steps they've completed, and explain the steps, instead of just mimicking the teachers work and moving on. Students retain information better if they know how to explain their reasoning.
My lessons will be geared towards middle school and high school aged students. The lessons will be focused on Algebra and Geometry skills.
