About James
I'm an Accounting and Finance graduate from Lancaster University and an incoming business master's student (September 2023) with a passion for teaching.
Having the opportunity to teach an area that I am extremely passionate about is something I appreciate massively and I hope to be able to pass on my enthusiasm for chess to the next generation of talent.
I started playing chess when I was around 10 years old and found a real passion for the game. I've competed in chess clubs, OTB events such as the Delancey School Chess Challenge, and online events (representing my university in the PUCL on several occasions). I was heavily involved with chess at university, being part of the society team and representing the university in competitions. I had the opportunity to run several sessions as well for new players to give them a grasp of some of the key concepts, helping to make the society more inclusive to new players :)
My ambition is to reach FM status when I have the time to focus on OTB chess alongside my studies :)

Lessons explore a range of topics such as opening theory, middlegame strategy, endgame technique, tactics and more. There is no set structure as I prefer to adapt to the needs, requirements and level of the student :)
I use Lichess as a resource as its completely free and easy to use but I can also use Chesskids/Chess.com if preferred!
