About Sophie
I’m Sophie, I graduated with a LLB in Law from the University of Sheffield in 2025, and I am currently completing my Master’s in Law in London to pursue a career as a solicitor. I absolutely love tutoring sociology, but I also know how stressful it can be. I achieved top grades in my A-Levels (Maths, History and Sociology), but this wasn’t an easy task, and I know how hard it can feel to approach A-Levels, so that is what I’m here for.
Ultimately, my biggest priority is building confidence. A-Levels are an incredibly stressful time (for both students and parents!). I am here to help break down the different topics, go through exam questions, provide as much support and resources as I can and help to minimise that stress. For me, there is nothing better than watching a student grow in confidence and self-belief, and a topic they used to dread suddenly be easy and a topic they love!

In my lessons, I use a tailored, student-led approach. I know that everyone works differently and processes information in different ways. I will adapt my teaching method to each student's unique learning style, whether it's a million exam questions, creating revision resources or just chatting through the content.
I will constantly review the exam board specification with my students, colour-coding topics based on current confidence levels. This helps me to form a clear understanding of areas that need the most support and what we need to prioritise.
I believe that targeted exam practice is the most effective tool for success in sociology, and there will be a lot of focus on this. I have a strong exam structure that, when used, allows you to hit all the key requirements of the mark schemes, and we will practise this together.
Sociology is also a great subject, as we can discuss real-world applications and consider concepts in modern-day life, such as the impact of social media and AI, or whatever the student feels is a good topic for them to discuss!
High exam results are the target, but building confidence is the aim too! Students have to believe in their own ability to succeed, and I will always push this and encourage students. I provide a supportive and stress-free space to learn, building confidence and encouraging healthy studying is key to me
