Understanding basic music concepts (i.e. Tonality, Texture, Dynamics, etc.), then Andrew has you covered. I took MUS101 online with Ryerson and was overwhelmed with the sheer amount of concepts presented with little reinforcement. Andrew helped train my ear to recognize different textures, tempo, tonality among other concepts. He took difficult concepts and broke them down to ensure I was able to comprehend the material. Andrew is very knowledgeable and a great person to work with, I would highly recommend him if you need help with anything related to music." - Ankur J. (2015) Andrew is extremely knowledgeable in his field of study. He helped a great deal with music theory using information from the course as well as his own experience. If you have difficulty understanding a concept he will work effortlessly to ensure you are able to comprehend the material. Overall an outstanding and trustworthy individual. Highly recommend his services for anyone needing help in music. - Marina C. (2016) Andrew is a fantastic teacher! He is patient, understanding and great with kids. I'm very comfortable leaving my God Child with him knowing that she will learn and have fun at the same time! - Cortney M. (2018) Andrew is my first music teacher in Canada. He is very patient and kind. Even though I can’t speak fluent English, he will do his best to explain knowledge to me. Andrew taught me a lot of music theory and playing skills. Every teacher I met in China, always told me how to do great things on piano but never told why to do them. Andrew explains things in music perfectly and solved many of my problems. I highly recommend his lesson for anyone needing help on piano and theory. - Kyle M. (2019) Definitely the most worthwhile extracurricular classes I've taken. I was able to pass the grade 8 and 9 RCM theory exams within a year of starting music because of Andrew's classes. He's a good teacher for beginners trying to get a grasp of the fundamentals of music and experienced students hoping to deepen their understanding. I like that he does not waste time and explains things simply so that it's easy to understand. 10/10 would definitely recommend. - Leo Tao (2020)

Andrew is the most professional theory teacher that I have ever had. I had two previous theory teachers before and both teachers were unable to explain the music theory concepts clearly for my RCM theory courses. After a few lessons with Andrew for my ARCT theory, I realized that I missed a lot of basic concepts which my previous teachers never taught me. Andrew has a strong passion towards music and is extremely dedicated to his music teaching.
I highly recommend Andrew for your piano needs.Andrew is a man who knows his craft. As his student, he could communicate complicated concepts effectively and efficiently. I could not personally recommend a better teacher!
Andrew is a great teacher. He teachs very professinally. When I had theory lessons with him and didn't understand a topic, he would explain it to me in a different which made sense to me no matter how many times I asked. Very hard working and dedicated to what he does.
Andrew is truly a reliable teacher. When I was taking piano lessons with him, he showed me a lot of practical techniques that saved time and made me more interested in piano performance and challenged me to learn more about the history of the pieces I was playing. Andrew was also very helpful since my first language is not English, and he would always use easily understandable words to explain and wait patiently. I would say that very few people have done this for me. He is great at expressing his thoughts to others and always brings me new insights into music, more importantly, I can see he has a great passion and talent in the field of music.
Highly recommended if you're hoping to learn about music theory and composition no matter what level you're at. His teaching style is very flexible and accommodating, He always comes up with some sort of plan or curriculum in order to fulfill any long or short-term goals you may have. If you're unsure of what you want, he's very good at giving you the guidance you need to figure it out.
He will definitely help provide you with the skills you need to be independent and confident on your journey as a musician.View more recommendations
