About Orla

I studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music for the most part of my life! I learned valuable musicianship skills there which I am passionate about communicating across to and instilling in my own students, as I believe learning music is not just about being able to read & play selected exam repertoire, but to understand the bases of musical harmony and the complexity within which music keys are all related. I believe this develops a well-rounded musician who can apply their skills not only in the exam hall, but in life.

About the lesson

A typical class of mine would consist of detailed scale work and examples of these in well known pieces. Much emphasis is placed on open discussion with the student to allow them to understand class concepts. Working on & developing suitable repertoire, and also developing aural & reading skills.
